Circumstance of their family background
All of the parents and caretakers of the children are
from outlying mountainous and hilly areas. Their main
target of coming to Pokhara is to solve hand to mouth
problem. They are surviving with difficulties involbving
daily based work (which isn't regular).
They are low paid hard-working jobs. (I.e Stone
breakers, sand and stone carriers, constructional
workers, dishwashers and so on)
All of them are illiterate. They are compelled to join
their works at sharp 9 am so they must eat feed their
children at 8 o'clock. The food is very por and low
quality which even doesn't fulfil the minimum
requirement of the body. Eating such type of meal at 8,
the children come to school and they have nothing to eat
during their school shour. (10 am-4pm). After 4,
returning back to home, the children can't get anything
to eat up to 8 PM.
In our experience of 8 years, we came to know that
mostly they have been victimized many disease due to of
malnutrition (anemia, night blindness, cholera, scurvy,
rickets and so on. Furthermore, they have been found to
be mentally retarted slow minded hopless, inactive and
unwilling to study. We hope the food program will help
to solve most of these problems.
The benefits of the Food Program
It attracts the poor, helpless and parentless
children to be regular in the school
It can help to be physically fit, mentally alert and
socially adopted.
The children feel very happy and entertain at school.
As a result they can improve their understaqnding power,
educational status and make their future bright. |
